FAQ
What is a Giclée?
Giclée is a term that was created to refer to fine art prints made on the Iris 3047. The Iris was the first digital inkjet printer used to create fine art prints. With inkjet technology the ink is sprayed onto the paper, thus the term Giclée which means to spray or spurt in French. It is purely a marketing term, and it stuck. The term giclée is used, these days, by almost everyone making any kind of digital print of artwork. Prints made at home on a desktop printer or with a professional studio use the term freely.
However, at The Highland Studio, the printer/paper/ink combination is of ultimate importance to us because strict oversite of these combinations is the only way to ensure long lasting prints. For this reason we like to use more descriptive terms like archival digital prints or archival inkjet prints.

The initial setup is really quite affordable when you compare with other printmaking processes. Once you approve your file for final printing if you order in even small quantities your per piece price is incredibly economical.
For instance:
order (4) 16x20" prints and they are only $38.50 each.
order (9) 11x14" prints and they are only $17.60 each.
order (10) 22x30" prints and they are only $65 each
